Escorts Ties up with Ingeteam, Spain for Railway Traction Systems

New Delhi, October 13 2011: Escorts Limited, a leading manufacturer of critical railway components for over 40 years, has signed an exclusive agreement with Ingeteam Traction to provide world class traction systems to Indian Railways. The product has large scale application on Electric Locomotives, Diesel-Electric Locomotives, Diesel Electrical Multiple Units (DEMU) and Electric Multiple Units (EMU) of Indian Railways. The Product can also be used on metro rail coaches.

Through this agreement, Escorts marks its entry in the niche domain of rail traction system. To begin with, Escorts will supply Traction Control Converter (TCC) and Locomotive Control Converter (LCC) with accessories for DEMU application on Indian Railways.

Speaking on the agreement, Mr. Vikram Singhal, Executive Director & Business Head for Escorts Engineering Division said, "This partnership strengthens Escorts commitment to bring in world class technology to Indian Railways and help realize its 2020 vision in upgrading the rolling stock in terms of technology, comfort and safety standards. Ingeteam, a Spanish Company, has over 60 years of experience in the electrical sector and more than 35 years in the electronics sector are market leaders in electrical equipment, motors, generators and VVVF power converters serving energy, industry, marine and rail traction sectors. The partnership will help Escorts offer ideal solutions to Indian Railways for its requirement of IGBT based traction system with open protocol.
